Small Groups provide environments where you can form lasting friendships and be encouraged in your faith–no matter where you are in your relationship with God. New Life offers several types of Small Groups, but all share a common goal: to help you in your journey on the pathway of new life in Jesus:
These Small Groups for adults allow you to minister to, or serve, others. To participate in most of these groups, your must complete a Volunteer Application and be willing to take part in some form of training. Care Groups demonstrate the love and compassion of Jesus to others in the New Life Family.
Crisis Care provides resources and case management to qualified members of the New Life Family experiencing serious and/or ongoing personal issues or circumstances.
Funeral Meals preps and serves funeral meals for families who have lost a loved one.
Feed the Need provides meals—either homemade or takeout–to families following the birth, adoption, or fostering of a child.
CELEBRATE RECOVERY WORSHIP TEAM
The purpose of this group is to bring, through worship, the Manifest Presence of God to people who attend Celebrate Recovery. Open to adult musicians who can follow a set tempo and possess a heart for those who struggle with life. Singers must be able to sing in pitch, and instrumentalists must possess a basic level of skill on their instrument. Practices at 5 pm every Tuesday night in the Sanctuary, with worship at 7 pm.
Adult and youth volunteers prepare and serve Communion to the congregation.
These five groups work together to present a positive first impression to Guests and Newcomers to New Life, and to keep everyone safe while they’re at church.
Children’s Registration is perfect for adults or high school students who have basic computer skills, like to interact with people, and are committed to making sure kids are safe when they’re at New Life.
Hospitality is a great way to engage with people, either by serving coffee and donuts to Newcomers on Sundays, serving breakfast to the Worship Team, or helping with special events.
Medics On Duty provide basic first aid to people who are injured or become ill while at New Life. MOD is open to anyone who is first-aid and CPR-certified.
Safety Patrol members welcome kids and parents at the entrance of the Children’s Wing, monitor badges to keep them safe, and assist teachers who need a helping hand during classes. Ideal for people who want to be a friend to children and keep them safe.
Ushers work as a team to welcome and assist Newcomers, as well as to keep people safe while they’re on the New Life Campus.
ROYAL RANGERS’ & GIRLS MINISTRY ADULT LEADERS
Leaders age 18+ invest in the lives of boys and girls, respectively, to help them learn about Jesus and grow in their relationship with Him. Groups for children ages 2 through high school meet Wednesday evenings during New Life’s Fall and Spring semesters.
SUNDAY CHILDREN’S MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS
Teachers and helpers have the opportunity to express the love of God and model serving to the youngest members of the New Life Family, as well as to connect in community with other teachers and helpers. Volunteers serve for one service, four months per year on a rotating basis: one month on; two months off. All volunteers working with children must have attended New Life for at least six months prior to serving, and involvement is by invitation only.
TECHNOLOGY IN WORSHIP TEAM
Volunteers handle live sound, multimedia, and video production support at New Life. Membership in two Small Groups is by invitation and/or audition only: New Life Worship Team & Sunday Morning Announcers.
If you join a Life Group, you’ll meet with others regularly over an extended/ongoing period of time to focus on nurturing spiritual growth and developing community. HIGH SCHOOL SMALL GROUP
High school can be hard. This group for students in grades 9-12 makes it a little easier by creating community for high school students to connect with Christ—and each other. Meets Sunday nights at the home of the young married couple who lead the group.
NELSON LIFE GROUP (ADULTS)
This group, which meets weekly during New Life’s Spring and Fall semesters, enables people get to know others in the church and share experiences from their spiritual journeys.
BRAUN LIFE GROUP (MARRIED AGES 50+)
This group focuses on learning to accept, understand, and support one another through discussions of Pastor Dutch VanderVlucht’s messages. Members concentrate on building the love of Jesus in all things, especially one another. Meets every two weeks during the school year; meetings rotate at members’ homes.
NEW LIFE SINGLES
Open to any adult single–never been married, divorced, widowed, single parent, or dating—this group meets every other week.
Designed to connect women 18+, REAL offers a non-threatening atmosphere in which women of all ages and stages of life can build Relationships, Encourage one another, hold each other Accountable—and Laugh! Activities include bonfires, Bunco, crafts, etc. REAL meets in the evening once a month during the school year, unless a special activity is scheduled for that month.
Men in TGIF meet weekly to draw closer to Christ and other men who are striving to be more Christ-like. Participants can discuss, or simply observe and take in the thoughts and experiences of others who are also dealing with the social and media pressures faced by men in our culture. This is a safe environment for men to share and support one another.
VETERANS DISCOVERING NEW LIFE
Veterans DNL provides an environment where military veterans can explore what God is doing in their lives, discover how their military experience has shaped their lives, and help them find purpose and meaning in life. Open to veterans of any military branch who wish to feel the camaraderie with other local veterans that they felt during their service. To accommodate busy schedules, Veterans DNL holds meetings at two different times each week.
The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to share experience, strength, and hope for those who want to overcome any type of hurt, habit, or hang-up. The only requirement for attending is a desire to change. The group meets at New Life each Tuesday, beginning with a fellowship at 6 pm, followed by a large group meeting at 7 pm and small group meetings at 8 pm.
If you enjoy activities and hobbies, an Interest Group–which gathers people around shared interests–might be right up your alley! When and how often members of an Interest Group get together vary from group to group. FINE ARTS/FUN ARTS
All kids in Grades 2-12 who want to grow in their gifts and talents are welcome! Participants also have the option of competing in Fine and Fun Arts. Also open to adults who want to share a talent with young people.
Held Tuesday nights in New Life’s Gym, this group for men 18+ meets for fun, fellowship, and exercise.
Classes at New Life provide you opportunities to pursue truth and knowledge to help you live by faith. Most meet for a specified period of time. If you’d like more information about a class or are interested in joining one, click here and we’ll get back to you.
The six-session Cleansing Stream Seminar, along with the Cleansing Stream Event, is designed to empower and equip adult Believers to develop their relationship with God—be they new Christians or veteran Believers who feel stuck in their walk with Him. Participants learn how to gain freedom from issues that prevent spiritual growth, discover God-given gifts that can help them reach others, and find how to become the person He meant them to be.
FINANCIAL COACHING GROUP
The purpose of this group is to support our congregation at New Life by empowering them to make wise money decisions. Classes offered by this group are open to anyone who wants support and coaching in their personal finances.
The mission of this class is to help adult women discover and face their hurts, hang-ups, and habits so they can make healthy choices to overcome them—thus transforming their lives.
LOVE & RESPECT
Open to married and single adults 18+, this class helps spouses gain a Biblical understanding of the different needs of husbands and wives. (Husbands want respect; wives want love.) By help unfolding the mystery of how men and women think and see situations differently—differently, not wrong—spouses learn to better love and understand each other. Love & Respect, which is usually offered in the Fall, is a prerequisite for Building Blocks of Love & Respect, usually held in the Spring.
MONDAY AM & PM BIBLE STUDY
This group for adults meets during the school year to study the Bible, focusing on one book at a time. Its purpose: to grow, learn more about the Lord and serve Him with knowledge. To accommodate busy schedules, identical sessions are held in the morning and evening. Everyone in the group is also invited to gather for lunch on the first Friday of the month.
SUNDAY ADULT DISCIPLESHIP CLASS
Everyone—no matter their current level of Biblical understanding—can benefit from this class, which is designed to help people better understand Scripture from its original meaning, and within the context of geography, culture, history, politics, and other factors in play at the time it was written. Open to anyone in high school or older who want to better understand the Biblical text. Classes are held at 9 am on Sundays in Room 302 during the school year.
